Elena Sergeevna Aleshkevich

Historian and Archivist. Graduation in 2004 from the Russian State University for the Humanities RGGU in Moscow. 2006 MA programme for Eastern European Studies at RGGU. 2004 - 2006 scientific collaborator with the Russian State Funds for Humanities, Department of History. 2005 and 2006 scientific collaborator with the North-Caucasian Archeological Expedition (NCAE) in the Krasnodarskiy region. Since 2007 freelancing expert for international clients on topics of late soviet history and transformation periode in former soviet countries. Together with A.A.S. member Gerti Eilmsteiner-Saxinger and Prof. Heinz Fassmann (Department for Geography and Spatial Research at the Universtity of Vienna) as project leader, she currently works out a three years research project, looking interdisciplinarily on selected aspects of vakhtovyj metod (fly-in/fly-out shift work) in oil and gas industry in the Former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. In February 2008 she took part in Gerti´s field-research in the Jamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in north western Siberia in order to elaborate historical dimensions of vakhtovyj metod. Research interest: late soviet and russian history in context of regional development of the North, labour force and, migration as well as transformation processes in post-socialist societies.
