Olga Povoroznyuk

Olga PovoroznyukOlga Povoroznyuk is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department for Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna. She defended her degree of kandidat nauk (Ph.D. equivalent) in Ethnology at the Institute for Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Science in Moscow. Povoroznyuk is an author of a book on Post-Soviet socio-economic and cultural transformations among indigenous Evenki communities and a number of publication on land use, cultural landscapes, gender relations, mobility and migrations, ethnicity, identity building and, more recently, modernization, infrastructure and politics of emotions in the Russian North. Olga Povoroznyuk is a member of Association of American Anthropologists, Austrian Polar Research Institute, Association of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia and other professional organizations and research networks. She regularly participates in international conferences and peer-review activities and currently teaches courses in anthropology of Siberia and infrastructure.
